Major get for HBO: Aaron Sorkin, who will probably win an Oscar for his "Social Network" screenplay, has signed to do a series for the pay cabler, according to Deadline. It's about the behind-the-scenes of a nightly cable news series, and of course we are supposed to think -- altogether now! -- "Sports Night." But who knows.
Sorkin is certainly fascinated with the television media, even wrote a much-admired play about it ("The Farnsworth Invention"), and some of you may still fondly remember the equally admired ABC comedy. (Maybe we don't so fondly remember "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," but whatever.) Per Deadline, Sorkin hung around with Keith Olbermann before his peremptory departure last week. Their palship has even lead to some speculation that Keith might do a show for HBO, or cowrite something with Sorkin.
