Who is David Muir, Diane Sawyer's replacement as anchor of ABC's "World News" beginning Sept. 2?

The 40-year-old native of Syracuse and graduate of Ithaca College (class of '95) was formerly an anchor and reporter in Syracuse, later at ABC's Boston affiliate, WCVB. He joined ABC News in 2003. According to his ABC bio, he "has reported from across the globe, including Egypt, China, the Middle East, South America, Eastern Europe, South Africa and throughout the United States [and] often anchors 'World News' from the field during breaking news -- in the past year anchoring from Cairo, London, Beijing, Tokyo and Tucson, AZ."

He was named anchor of "World News" weekend editions in February 2011.
