Adam West, the actor best known as the star of the 1960s "Batman" TV series, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at age 88, his family said Saturday.

Adam West in character as Batman of the '60s TV series. The Wednesday-night show was so popular, ABC reported 1,000 telephone calls protesting the interruption of the show for reports on the space flight Gemini 8 on March 16, 1966.
