'American Horror Story:' 'nother season

Fans of "American Horror Story" - and I suppose I'd count myself as one - will be happy to learn that it got a second season order Monday. That's reasonably impressive considering only four episodes have aired thus far, though creatively and numberswise, they've improved markedly the last two.

This is interesting for an unrelated reason - it ties up the services and talents of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk for another year. Coincidentally, when "Glee" returns Tuesday night, neither will share a writing credit on a "Glee" episode; that's a first in the show's three-year history, and was probably based on the fact that they simply didn't have the time, considering "AHS." What remains to be seen is whether Tuesday's "Glee" ("Pot 'o Gold") is better than an episode they would have created.

Here's the quote from FX boss, John Landgraf, and note the line "years to come."

Years! Do Ryan and Brad know?

“It’s one thing to have the ambition and guts to reinvent a genre in a way that makes it captivatingly fresh for a broad audience—it’s something else entirely to have the craft to back that ambition up,” said Landgraf. “Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have hit the trifecta with Nip/Tuck, Glee and now American Horror Story, which will be scaring FX’s viewers to death for many years to come.”
