'American Idol' twist as Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine and Elise Testone await bottom three

Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine and Elise Testone are up first as "American Idol" cuts to its top nine.

I think and hope it's Testone that winds up in the bottom three out of this group, just because I like the other two more; she has great vocals, but for whatever reason I haven't connected with her. Part of it is because of all the gushing the judges did over her, just to try and boost her votes totals... not her fault, but a bit annoying.

Cavanagh is safe, which means it'll definitely be Testone going to the bottom three. And indeed, Laine is safe, which means it's the third straight week for Testone in the bottom three.

Wow, and a twist -- Testone is safe as well! Nicely done; fooled me. You'd think after 11 seasons I'd remember they always do this.

Lana Del Rey laconicly sings "Video Games." She's oddly compelling. She half-mutters the song, but it's melodic so you keep listening even as you feel like you're slipping into a trance. Big smile from Del Rey at the end.
