Anderson Cooper believed he had to keep certain things close to the vest. As a soon-to-be daytime TV host, though, he's able to open up about a few things.
Like his love for the "Real Housewives" franchise and "Hoarders."
"I've been ashamed to admit that I watch 'The [Real] Housewives,' " Cooper told an audience at the PromaxBDA Conference 2011 in Manhattan last week. "Or at least I haven't really talked about it. But now that I'm in daytime TV, I can fully reveal how much I like the 'Housewives.' " He's also a fan of "Finding Sarah" on OWN.
Cooper also shed light on his new syndicated show. "This is not a news program," he told CBS' "Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill at the conference. "From a big celebrity interview one day, to a hot-button social issue the next day -- and the following day an interview with a real person who has a real-life challenge we can all learn from.
"I'm not going to do anything I'm not genuinely interested in," he added. "I think daytime TV works best when it's authentic to who the person is.
"Anderson," his one-hour talk show, debuts Sept. 12. He will continue to do his nightly CNN program, "AC 360."
