Andrew Garcia is singing "Forever" for Usher on "American Idol." Usher gives him one of the greatest critiques ever -- tells him if you really want to make your acoustic interpretation work, you gotta take this serious, don't overthink, go for it.
"I love Chris Brown's 'Forever.' [Andrew] made me love it even more. That's what I wanted him to do," Usher says.
Wow, Andrew Garcia is back! From the get-go he's loose and free. He's got a totally creative take on the song, he's riffing, making us hear it differently. He's up on the stage on a stool in his gray suit, playing the guitar, such a beautiful tone. Great urgency to the pure vocals and the audience is totally into it. This is something I can see people downloading. I want to relisten to it. Huuuge applause.
Randy says "America, Andrew is back!" Calls it "mad dope," loved it. Ellen calls it a "really amazing strong performance," and says she loves his smile. Kara says "that is one giant leap in the right direction," she's relieved for him.
Simon says waaaay better, but you still come over as a person who is "very boring." Simon wants to see more personality, that Andrew cares.
Simon's totally right, Andrew is cool -- but he can be cool and engaging, like Usher. Wow, hilarious -- Ryan brings his mom up on the stage after Simon calls him boring, Andrew is like, "Momma, momma, momma, you better calm down, momma," as she goes off on Simon in Spanish, then she gives the Brit a big hug.
Well, Simon's plan worked -- we totally have a feel for Andrew now!
