Ann Curry - ousted as "Today" co-anchor in June - has a particularly memorable interview in this month's Ladies Home Journal (it's been on the stands but just now coming to my attention.) She also had an interview on the show from London yesterday (Thursday)...More on that below.
How memorable? She recalled that a colleague - presumably a boss - once compared her to Toucan Sam when she wore a certain dress to work. Here's the quote and a quick clip of Sam for those who may not be familiar with the Froot Loops mascot.
"One day I wore a multicolored dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam. But I chose it because I thought, This will perk up America. I'm encouraged by my bosses to wear these ridiculously high-heeled shoes because women say, 'I love your shoes!' So if it makes women happy, I'll wear them. But I'm still going to be me... I've tried to wear clogs and flats on TV and it hasn't gone well with my bosses ..."
Meanwhile, there was quite the stir in the press Thursday morning over Ann's presumed coolness toward Matt Lauer. (It wasn't presumed by the way - she WAS a bit cool, but only a bit. No news there - she pretty much ignored him their last morning together on the air too; Thursday morning's enounter was positively sunny by comparison. ) This is not the first time she's returned to the program; she also contributed to its Aurora shooting coverage.
