Beyond TV: Saving the planet, saving shows

'EARTH DAYS' PREVIEW

Before the April 19 PBS premiere of the "American Experience" documentary "Earth Days" (about the first Earth Day, in 1970), you can catch a social-media sneak peek. Watch online, and chat with the producers, Sunday at 8 p.m. at facebook.com/earthdays.

KIDS RECYCLE CONTEST

In celebration of Earth Day's 40th anniversary this month, PBS' "Design Squad" show is sponsoring the Trash to Treasure competition. Kids ages 5-19 are asked to invent ways to reuse or re-engineer everyday materials. Three winners get to have their designs built, and filmed for TV. Details at pbskids.org/designsquad/contest.

SAVE A SHOW

It's not too late to vote in E! Online's annual Save One Show campaign, where viewers unite behind an endangered series like "Chuck," "FlashForward" or "Human Target." Polls close Sunday at eonline.com.

COUNTRY MUSIC VOTE

Help choose the Academy of Country Music Awards winners in the categories of Entertainer of the Year and Top New Artist. Vote before CBS' April 18 telecast at voteacm.com.
