Brassy Chelsea Sorrell a 'bit nasally' on 'American Idol'

Country girl Chelsea Sorrell, up first as "American Idol" showcases its top 12 female contestants, tells us on video "it takes us at least 40 minutes to get to any kind of mall" from the small North Carolina town where she lives.

Singing Carrie Underwood's "Cowboy Casanova," has a throaty tone but not that memorable, just a brassy version of an OK country song. Tepid Randy Jackson says he's not sure that was the best choice, Jennifer Lopez calls it a "bit nasally," adding "it sucks to go first."

Steven Tyler just wants her to watch her phrasing and timing. She's gonna have a tough time surviving, no buzz around her and turning in an average performance when you go first is hard to overcome.
