Will she make it her own?
Season 7 “American Idol” finalist” Brooke White has landed her first acting gig--a starring role in the TV-movie “Change of Plans,” which will air Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. on Fox/5.
“It’s completely unexpected,” White, 27, told celebrity Web site TooFab. “It was not like I was actively seeking out roles or auditioning. It took me by surprise! I worked with Randy Jackson on a couple of the soundtracks for [Fox's] ‘Family Movie Night’ movies, but I never actually anticipated being in one."
The idea for casting White came after she met the film’s producer at an event in which Jackson ws also present. In the film, White—who worked as a nanny before auditioning for “Idol”—will play a character not too far from herself. She stars as a singer who cares for her friend's four children after an accident. Phylicia Rashad co-stars and Jackson makes a cameo.
“When I got the call [about auditioning], my first thought was ‘I don’t know, I’m not really trying to be an actress, does it interfere with my music?’ But I thought it was worth a shot, so I went to the audition, and I was totally terrified and I didn’t know what exactly I was supposed to do with myself. I was really up front about not having any real experience.”
But, she says, “it just worked out...but it was such a pleasant surprise!”
