“Criminal Minds” star Thomas Gibson responded Thursday to a report that he has been temporarily suspended from the show for allegedly kicking a writer.
“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement,” Gibson, 54, who plays FBI Special Agent Aaron Hotchner in the CBS police procedural, said in a statement. “I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will.”
TMZ.com said Gibson some weeks ago was directing an episode for the upcoming 12th season and was appearing in a scene when an on-set argument ensued between himself and that episode’s writer, and escalated.
The Hollywood Reporter added that Gibson was replaced as that episode’s director and suspended for two episodes. He currently is also prohibited from directing further episodes this season. The human-resources department of the ABC Studios/CBS Television Studios co-production is investigating the incident, the trade magazine said.
Gibson some years ago was ordered to attend anger-management classes when he pushed one of the series’ producers, but was not suspended in that instance, the magazine said.
