Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze are emerging as the contenders for the title of "American Idol" for Season 9 according to the adult members of my circle of family/friends. Kelly P. says she can envision hearing him on the radio, comparing him to Season 5’s Chris Daughtry.
Crystal Bowersox showed us her artistic diversity by trading in her guitar for a chance to "tickle the ivories" while donning a pair of stylish stilettos.
Lee Dewyze has gained confidence and is making that eye contact with the audience that was missing from previous performances to the extent that Simon Cowell said: “…I want you to go home tonight and watch this back and know that your life may have changed forever tonight.”
I still like Siobhan Magnus and hope that she works out her screaming demons. She knows who she is and the type of artist she aspires to become. Yes, she’s quirky, yet truly unique.
Tim Urban’s cuteness and big smile have saved him from being axed to the chagrin of 10-year old Jason P. who can’t understand why he’s still around. Neither can the judges. Simon Cowell quipped “…you’ll keep smiling, but people will vote for you, and you’ll be here next week.” If the judges keep picking on him, there’s a good possibility that he will survive another week or two, as did Season 6's Sanjaya Malakar, who made it to No. 7.
Aaron Kelly fan Nicky T. thought Andrew Garcia should have been in the bottom three. “Big Mike” fan Deanna T. still likes Mike but thought his performance was boring, as did my three-year old granddaughter Alex, who said: “his song is too slow.” (She wanted to dance and wasn’t moved to do so by it.)
Conversely, Katie Stevens' rendition of “Chain of Fools” got Alex on her feet, dancing to the music and chiming in with the chorus of “chain, chain, chain…” She thought that Lee Dewyze sounded like Season 8’s Danny Gokey, one of her favorites. Her prediction was that a girl was going home, and she was correct once again.
