Devin Velez odd man out as 'American Idol' cuts to seven

"American Idol" is about to cut a contestant, groing from eight to seven finalists.

First person who's safe is Kree Harrison; no surprise there. Next to safety is Candice Glover, who I thought might be vulnerable tonight but is not. Janelle Arthur is safe, once again; followed by Angie Miller. Final person to safety is... Amber Holcomb!

Wow, an all-guys bottom three -- Burnell Taylor, Lazaro Arbos and Devin Velez. Taylor doesn't deserve to be there; I'm assuming Velez will be going home, but we'll see.

Taylor is sent to safety; and the person who finished last is... Velez. He sings for the save, but is not going to get it. He does do a very nice version of Elvis' "It's Impossible," showing off his stellar tone and slipping smoothly into Spanish as was his calling card.

But the judges don't save him. Velez just never put it all together; I liked him, but with the fireworks of the female vocalists his time in the finals was limited from the get-go.
