DirecTV, which has been trying to get into the original production business (like Netflix) has landed a Paul Abbott series that'll star Chloe Sevigny as "pre op transexual" who's also a contract killer. (How about that for a new twist? If she was also a vampire, I'd really be impressed.)

Paul Abbott is a big get: He's the most famous TV producer in the U.K. whose credits stretch way back to "Coronation Street" and more recently to "Shameless." "Cracker," I suppose, is his best-known credit on this side of the Atlantic. Most of us last saw Sevigny in "Big Love." Abbott's new series, called "Hit and Miss," will launch sometime next year.
