'Doctor Who' 3-D season finale to be shown in movie theaters

The doctor is ready to make a movie-house call.

Fans of "Doctor Who," the long-running sci-fi series and cult favorite, will get a double dose of the doc Sept. 15 and 16 when BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events present the Season 8 finale "Doctor Who: Dark Water/Death in Heaven" in 3-D plus a never-shown prequel at theaters nationwide.

In "Dark Water/Death in Heaven," theatergoers can relive when the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) comes face-to-face with the mysterious Missy (short for the Mistress) as the villainous Cybermen take over the streets of London. The episode will be followed by "The Doctor's Meditation," a prequel scene to series' Season 9 premiere, which airs Sept. 19 on BBC America. Rounding out the event will be an interview with Capaldi and co-star Jenna Coleman hosted by actor Wil Wheaton.
