“Downton Abbey” ends March 6, but to diminish the effects of separation anxiety, WNET/13 will air a half-hour “after party” upon the conclusion of the finale. Beginning at 9, the finale airs just over an hour and a half, so expect this party to start before 11 p.m.

According to Ch. 13, this half-hour live show will be “hosted by MetroFocus anchor Jack Ford and NYC-ARTS correspondent Christina Ha, featuring special guests Mike Rugnetta of PBS Idea Channel and popular Downton blogger Debbie Gilbert.” Also expect clips, walk-on fans in cosplay, and (of course) social media interaction. Gilbert has produced “The Downton Dish” blog on Ch. 13’s website.

“Downton” has remained — easily — the most viewed series in public television history, and (for that matter) among the most popular broadcast series since its launch in 2011. The final season began with slightly under 10 million viewers. Parties are justified. This one will originate from the Tisch WNET Studios at Lincoln Center.
