Emma Henry, 15, gets to develop her 'certain something' on 'American Idol'

Large and chatty Joe Repka messes around with Ryan Seacrest next on "American Idol." He gets some radio tips from Seacrest, but leaves us cringing more than anything else. He belts out "For the Longest Time," while his mom tells Ryan she's tone deaf. Apparently, she's not the only one.

Steven Tyler nicely tells him "don't sing into the mike, talk into it." Unasked he launches into "Fools Rush In" as Jennifer Lopez says, "this is weird." Ha, this is nothing! Nice guy, but just can't sing.

Emma Henry, 15, is up next. She just seems good. She drove her family 15 hours to audition, "driving on my way to my opportunity."

She sings "True Colors" and is very vulnerable and straightforward. It's not a soaring voice to start, but a very interesting tone and has sincerity. More power on the chorus; like a perfect audition song.

Tyler nails it, "you have a certain something , , , a lot of character." Lopez agrees, tells her to keep working on her "special quality."

Randy Jackson isn't sure she's ready, J.Lo says no. She's crying, so Randy questions her, doesn't want her to get "swallowed up," deliberates, then at the end says . . . Yes!!!

Wow, I'm very happy. She's an interesting one. And Tyler definitely got that. She's the perfect "Idol" contestant -- raw, interesting, could grow into something special over the next few months.
