Crystal Bowersox is the exception, but Tuesday night’s performances left a less-than-favorable impression for most of us. What a train wreck!
Song choices from the No. 1 Billboard hits did not help contestants in defining the type of artist they aspire to become nor did the lackluster advice given by 17-year old mentor Miley Cyrus.
She’s the one who sings “Party in the U.S.A.,” exclaimed 3-year old Alex in response to seeing Miley Cyrus on the show, recognizing the song as the one she hears each week at dancing school.
Alex is very detail-oriented and likes the hats worn by Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche and Andrew Garcia during their stint with Miley Cyrus. She also gave a thumbs up to the hairstyles of Casey James and Siobhan Magnus.
When asked by mom Tracey who she thought was going home, Alex simply said: “A girl.” Well, she had a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly. She also sensed the judges reaction to Paige Miles’ performance.
The adults in my group still favor Siobhan Magnus, Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox, but all admit that props go to Crystal Bowersox as the BEST of the night! Several added Casey James to their fave list. All agreed that Paige Miles’ performance was HORRIBLE, and we liked Simon’s suggestion that Tim Urban should consider taking singing lessons.
The teen vote is split – Caileigh G. (16 yrs.) likes cutie Tim Urban and is very excited that he’ll be on tour with the top 10, while Danielle M. (14 yrs.) likes “Big Mike” Lynche and Siobhan Magnus.
The tweens are holding strong to their choices. Skyla P. (8 yrs.) LOVES Didi Benami. Ten-year old “Big Mike” fan Jason P. commented: “Tim Urban doesn’t deserve to be there” (an astute observation). On the flip side, both Nicky T. and sister Deanna T. were drawn into the Tim Urban camp by his animated performance. “He was awesome…I loved that song (“Crazy Little Thing Called Love”) … his slide was so cool!” were their comments.
