Not often that we get into the complicated world of soaps here at TVZone, but this is an unusual exception -- Genie Francis, one of the world's best-known soap stars who had been a fixture at "General Hospital" since before I was born (actually, I wish) is moving to "The Young & Restless" in May. EW had this exclusively yesterday. Actually, Francis's Laura Spencer pretty much left the show a few years ago -- titanic news in soapdom -- and was asked by Oprah not long ago if she'd ever go back. Said she -- per an EW transcript:
“If there is a way to go forward with Laura and make her into what I’d like her to be now, then perhaps I would do it.“I would like her to be funny and have a little bit of an agenda that might look a little bit vengeful, but it really isn’t. I think she’d have a plan,” she continued. “There is nothing in me that is willing to play a victim anymore. I’m sort of done with the wounded dove in my life.” She'll play the mom of Ethan Cane, who died last month, which sounds a bit like a wounded dove part after all.
