“House of Cards” is being rebuilt.
The Netflix series began production on its sixth and final season on Tuesday with Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear taking on prominent roles as new characters. Netflix did not offer any details about Lane and Kinnear’s roles, except that they will play sister and brother.
The show stopped filming three months ago after star Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual harassment and assault. Spacey was dropped from the series, but Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Patricia Clarkson, Jayne Atkinson and Campbell Scott will be back for the new episodes. Also returning is Constance Zimmer, who was last seen on the show as reporter Janine Skorsky in season 4.
The series’ future had been uncertain since October after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of inappropriate sexual behavior when Rapp was 14 years old. Spacey apologized to Rapp, but after numerous other allegations, Netflix severed ties with the Oscar-winning actor.
