Jay Leno continues to poke softly (ineffectually?) at owner Comcast over recent “Tonight Show” cutbacks in the most public of forums -- his own show.
Last night's jibe? “Nothing But Cutbacks.” Yuk, yuk. As readers may know, I've wondered why Jay doesn't spend the real capital he has earned over the years -- namely, power. I believe he should have pushed back -- not offered a few lame on-air jokes.
His bargaining power even increased substantially Tuesday, with Jimmy Kimmel about to enter the mix. His argument could well be: "You need me and a strong “Tonight Show” now more than ever . . . don't cut back. Build!'
