Jenn Hirsh next on "American Idol," I go back and forth on her; sometimes find her annoying, other times love her talent. Singing Adele's "One and Only," it's nothing special for me.
Shows off her big voice and it's well-sung; just no emotional connection for whatever reason. "I thought it was beautiful," says Jennifer Lopez, adding, "I felt the feeling in the song." Steven Tyler just says, "You got it, you got what it takes."
Randy Jackson likes her natural talent, calls her "one of the greatest singers in the competition this year." May be true, I just didn't feel it.
Wow, Jackson actually tells Ryan Seacrest that he watched last night's show again and thought they were "a little soft" on some of the guys. A little? How about a lot!
Polarizing Staten Islander Brielle von Hugel next -- love her voice, hate her lack of self awareness. Singing a throaty version of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay," with Heejun Han and some of the other guy contestants clustered around her.
Wow, just nails the middle, voice goes up in pitch and intensity, totally feeling this. Has got the audience whooping; natural performer, undulating her hips in time to the music. That was really good.
"You got a great sense of the blues," says Tyler. "People underestimate you," says Lopez, "but what I love about you is you're a true performer." Calls it "amazing."
Jackson loved the same middle "sweet spot" that I did, and praises her swagger, comparing her to Janis Joplin.
Yeah, she could win this thing; no fear and loves being up there.
