"Jersey Shore" back this summer, but...

As expected, MTV reached a deal with the self-described guidos and guidettes and the show will be back this summer.

$10,000 each per episode, but you can guess that if the summer does well, that fee goes up substantially.

Here's one key thing to consider too: MTV said the cast will shoot the next edition in a location that is  not on the Jersey shore, but in some warm place - obvious for production reasons, to get this thing back on the air ASAP.

But's the philosophical question of the morning: If a show called "Jersey Shore" is not shot on the Jersey Shore and if the entire cast comes from someplace other than the Jersey shore, or even other than the state of New Jersey, then how can it still be called "Jersey Shore?"

I'll leave you to ponder that conundrum.

The network didn't say where this warmer, sunnier locale is, but a good wild guess would be Florida....

Meanwhile, here's the propaganda from MTV:

Fans continue to demand more “Jersey Shore” as MTV’s breakout hit series will return for a second season this summer with 12 new episodes, it was announced today by MTV President of Programming, Tony DiSanto.  Following the success of season one, Pauly D, Mike, Snooki, Jenni, Sammi, Ronnie and Vinny escape the cold Northeast and find themselves in a new destination.

"Our audience has fallen in love with ‘Jersey Shore’ and its amazing cast who have really grown together as a family. That bond gives the show its heart, and we’re thrilled to reunite these friends to bring fans more of what they love -- laughs, love, drama and of course, GTL," said Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV.

“Jersey Shore” is January’s #1 original cable series among P12-34.  The season one finale (1/21/10) broke series records, delivering a 4.8 rating and ranking #1 for the day across all television competition in the P12-34 demo. The series posted phenomenal growth all season long with the finale audience more than triple the series debut..

Fans can catch up on the complete first season as MTV airs the “Jersey Bowl” marathon leading up to the Super Bowl kick-off on Sunday, February 7th beginning at 9am ET/6am PT.
