Jessica Sanchez is singing Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" next on "American Idol," guest mentor Steven Van Zandt says at first they were thinking of talking her out of it, but then heard her sing it for them and were blown away.
She's up there vamping and working the song; hits the chorus and is off like a shot, like she's channeling Turner. I mean, her vocal skills are unbelievable. I more admire than love the performance; it lacks some sort of emotional connection for me.
"You were a little bit of Tina, a little bit of Beyoncé -- I love seeing you move," says Jennifer Lopez.
Steven Tyler likes hearing the blues coming out of her; Randy Jackson says, "It was OK for me," tells her she tried to do something big and it didn't quite click for him.
