Larry David returns to 'Saturday Night Live' as . . .

Obviously recognizing that some impressions are forged in impression heaven -- Larry David as Bernie Sanders is the one that comes to mind immediately -- "Saturday Night Live" will bring back the one-time "SNL" writer Larry David to host an actual show, the Feb. 6 edition to be exact.

"Why then, why Larry" are questions that answer themselves: The Iowa caucuses are Feb. 1, and the New Hampshire primaries are Feb. 9. Bernie Sanders probably will be indisposed that Saturday before, so "SNL" clearly is going with the next best thing -- his doppelganger.

David has performed Sanders three times before, each one memorable.  He has -- as the saying goes -- Bernie down cold, from the widespread arms to the slightly churlish demeanor, and almost even to the hair, or what David has left of it.

"SNL" announced the David hosting during Saturday's show; the British band The 1975 will be the musical guest.

No word, obviously, on exactly what Larry will do during the Feb. 6 edition. But we already know the who.
