Lee DeWyze goes back to Chicago on 'American Idol,' wow, gets to throw out the first pitch at a Cubs game, nails it and is in seventh heaven.
Back to his old elementary school, a wall of screaming greets him. This has gotta be every American's dream....
Goes home, back to the paint store he used to work at, bedlam. It's like he's a Beatle; he's totally crying, keeps hiding his face. Back to see his family; then sings "The Boxer" at what looks like a horse racetrack, his parents are in tears.
It's a genuine lovefest, he tells the crowd, "this is the best day of my life."
I don't know, there's something about Lee's homecoming that's totally touching. Maybe because his expectations were so low at the start of the season, he believed in himself, but clearly didn't know if anyone else would.
What a great guy; he totally reminds me of Kris Allen, a totally decent, good guy who grew like crazy during the finals.
