First, "Late Show with David Letterman." Now, "The Today Show." Lindsay Lohan continues to burn her way through promises -- and interviews. She was scheduled to do a Matt Lauer interview this morning, but backed out at the last moment.

  NBC News has this statement:

"Matt traveled to Los Angeles after Lindsay Lohan agreed to a sit-down interview at her home. When he arrived at her home, she had a change of heart and wasn't prepared to talk for more than 15 minutes as she had agreed, so the interview was cancelled."

Steve Honig, Lohan's spokesman, said last night that he and Lohan had assumed "this would be a quick check in with 'The Today Show' -- a how are you, what are doing, how's it going kind of thing, and when Matt arrived, I sat down and quickly realized it was a lot more than that."

Honig said he told Lohan that she should not do the interview "because in a two-hour extensive interview with 'Dateline' you have to gather your thoughts, and think about what you want to talk about. Those are heavy topics -- your parents, your [legal] troubles -- and she didn't have a chance to do that." He added, "it was nobody's fault. You can chalk it up to a miscommunication."

Of course, I'm thinking this might have something to do with all this too as reported by

"Lindsay Lohan has reportedly tested positive for alcohol and will face a probation violation hearing tomorrow. She’s been ordered to appear in front of Judge Stephanie Sautner in L.A. Superior Court on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. PT. It’s believed the Probation Department will request that Sautner end Lohan’s home confinement and throw her in jail. According to multiple outlets, Lohan failed one of two alcohol tests administered earlier this month. She reportedly tested negative for other drugs."

TMZ, which first reported this, has additional details -- that Lauer and company had been assured there would be a  "lengthy" interview for use on two shows, "Today" and "Dateline," but that it fell through at the last minute when Lohan decided she didn't want to talk for more than 15 minutes.

I know: Ridiculous. She had also promised to do a "Letterman" Top 10 months ago and then reneged.
