'Mad Men" wraps its fifth season Sunday night (AMC at 10), but before we bid a fond farewell, here's a fond backward glance, at the season's 10 most dramatic moments:

10. Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka) witnesses Megan's mother-in-law doing something unmentionable to Roger (John Slattery, right); she was shocked. "How's the city?" her friend later asks. "Dirty," she says.

9. Megan (Jessica Paré) quits Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce for an acting career. Don (Jon Hamm) sees her off on the elevator, then punches a button for another elevator. When it arrives, the doors open ... to an empty shaft.

8. Joan (Christina Hendricks) kicks out her husband, Greg (Samuel Page) -- for good. He says the Army makes him feel like a good man. Says she: "You never were, even before we were married."

7. Lane (Jared Harris) forges Don's name on a company check to settle a tax debt, thus setting in motion his own tragic end.

6. Lane tells the partners that they've lost the Jaguar account, and after Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) hurls a couple of insults his way, they engage in fisticuffs. Pete is decked.

5. Don meets up with a former lover, Andrea, in the elevator, and later, at the apartment, they have a liaison after which he chokes her to death -- but it was a nightmare.

4. Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) quits, to go to work for Draper archenemy Cutler Gleason and Chaough.

3. Roger and Jane (Peyton List) go to her shrink's dinner party where they take LSD; Roger believes it gives him enlightenment -- to end their marriage.

2. Joan accepts an offer to spend a night with a sleazy car industry executive -- who indicates that SCDP will get the Jag account if she does stay the night. In exchange, she is made a partner.

1. Lane commits suicide. (We saw it coming, but we didn't see it coming.) Joan tries to force open his office door, but his hanging body is obstructing it.
