If Pia Toscano's awesome rendition of "I'll Stand By You" on last week's "American Idol" is still ringing in your ears, the New York Mets are giving you a chance to follow in her footsteps.
The Mets are holding open auditions Monday, March 14, to find people to sing the National Anthem before home games at Citi Field this season. If you're one of the first 100 in line, you'll be guaranteed a chance to sing a song of their choice, according to the news release.
The Mets also made a point to note that 2011 "Idol" favorite and Howard Beach resident Pia was a winner, in 2008.
So, who knows. Maybe this can launch your career, too.
According to the Mets, you could join a long list of other celebrities who have sung the anthem before games, including "Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez's husband Marc Anthony, LI's own Billy Joel, Rihanna, June Carter and Johnny Cash, Kristin Chenoweth, Glenn Close, Sheryl Crow, Art Garfunkel, Wyclef Jean, Cyndi Lauper, Aaron Neville, *NSYNC, Carly Simon, Matthew Morrison...
Just don't be like Christina Aguilera.
