Michael Lynche kicks off "American Idol's" finals. He says he lost his mom when he was a teen, singing "Miss You." He's all in black, showing off his falsetto.
Owns the spare stage, but the performance is a bit herky jerky and weird for me. Not a great fit with the song -- definitely energetic and shows off his voice, but I'm not into it.
Randy says not great at the start, but good performance, liked it. Ellen says not yet disappointed, "amazing." Kara says hard to fill up the big stage, you had swagger and attitude. Simon gives us a reality check -- you're confident, but performance was corny at times. "Verging at times on a tiny bit desperate."
Weird. Ryan comes off the stage to "confront" Simon and tell him to be constructive. It's too planned and totally unsmooth and makes me think the contestants may not be the focus of this final round.
