"Animal Practice,"  the NBC sitcom that starred the world's most famous Capuchin monkey, has been put down. (But the monkey, Crystal, is fine: She had a good career before this started, and will no doubt will survive this too.)

No official statement from NBC, but the show will be replaced by "Whitney" in a couple weeks. NY Mag's "Vulture" broke the news a short while ago.

What happened? Do you really need to ask? This was not a good show though NBC unwisely interrupted the Olympic's closing ceremonies to force it on to several dozen million viewers who would hate it all at once.
