For sure there’s a bit of unpleasantness between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey but the last thing we thought we’d see them spat over? A bra.
But this was the case on Wednesday night’s show as the first contestant, Naomi Morris, incited them with her home-crafted spike laden brassiere, and matchy shoes. While her voice didn’t measure up, Minaj liked the look. “Your bra is poppin, your shoe is poppin’, continue to shine as a fashion designer,” she told Morris after she was rejected as a singer.
As she left, Minaj indicated that she wanted the bra. “It’s to small for you,” said Carey. “No it’s not,” answered Minaj. “It’s too small for you,” taunted Carey and so on.
When it comes to style, these two contrast sharply .?.?. an understatement. Carey is almost conservative, dare we say, even a touch mumsy, though she looks pretty and natural. She wore two solid-colored dresses last night — a Kelly green cleavage-flaunting number and a deep plum job both amped up with jewelry.
Minaj, well, your eyes have to adjust to the hair, makeup, and clothes. First up, she did her cotton candy thing a white brocade bubble dress (worn with knee socks) topped by a pink wig that looked like spun sugar. She sported an enormous, diamond watch on her arm.
For the second half of the show, it was op art, military Barbie. Wearing a royal blue, uber-embellished police hat, matching structured jacket and long straight blonde wig, ends dipped in pink .?.?. well, she was “poppin’” to say the least.
