"Nightly News" and the Muppets

if you missed "Nightly News" tonight, then you missed an interesting detour to TV history - Jim Henson's decoration of a set of pipes that was apparently the beginning of the Muppets.

Here's the piece - as Brian Williams gives Frank Oz a tour of the closet where these pipes were painted. (Oz is the great director and one of the founders of the Muppet kingdom).

It's interesting but begs questions such as - was this REALLY the first time Henson conceived the Muppets? Really? I wonder. Regrettably, Brian had to give a plug for NBC's highly profitable 30 Rock tour.  I also wonder if this is why "Nightly" did the piece in the first place...

  But it's still interesting...
