Long Island's power outage - and outrage - has gone national. "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" - TV's most viewed, by the way - led tonight's broadcast with the growing power crisis on Long Island. Specifically, the program originated from extremely hard-hit Lawrence; while reporter Stephanie Gosk's piece doesn't include this afternoon's comments by Gov. Andrew Cuomo - who called LIPA's restoration efforts a failure - it does accurately reflect the level of despair in many towns (like the Five Towns.) Williams - a Middletown, N.J. native and onetime volunteer fireman - has been particularly attentive to the plight of Sandy victims in New York and New Jersey during this broadcast and even during his election night coverage.
And, needless to say, this is the first time in recent memory one of the major evening news broadcasts have led with a Long Island story... Here's Gosk's piece:
