Pauly D gets a series - maybe

Looks like that rumored series starring the hair gel king himself, Pauly D, will move ahead. MTV just announced that it has closed a "series option deal," which pretty much means what it says - MTV has an option to air a series, or not.

But this one looks like a firm go, and the only logical question - what happens to DJ Pauly D Delvecchio's future on "Jersey Shore" if in fact this does go to series?  Paulie of course is critical to "JS:" The calm one, the happy-go-lucky one, the non-drama king for the most part. He's counterweight to a lot of the house insanity that  unfolds on a regular basis, so without Pauly, then what?

Could he do both shows? It sounds like he could because....

Oh, and I haven't even told you what his possible new show is, have I? Sorry. Here's what MTV says:

“At the heart of ‘Jersey Shore’ is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D. truly embodies both qualities,” said Chris Linn, Executive Vice President of Programming and Head of Production for MTV. “He’s distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can’t help but want to hang out with. We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.”

So the key phrase is: Away from the shore. Of course, what Pauly does away from the shore is work as a DJ, so one assumes that is what this will be about. A pilot was shot in September.
