Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh stick around on 'American Idol' — for now

Phillip Phillips up first as "American Idol" cuts to its final three. I thinks his screaming fan base will come through for him like they have every week this season, even though he clearly deserves to be in the bottom two.

He wasn't bad, he just wasn't anywhere near as great as Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez.

Ugh, they just have him go back to join the others on the couches, nothing revealed here.

Hollie Cavanagh up next; I think she's going home tonight, even though she was better than Phillips as well. She doesn't have the fan base, and got hammered by the judges for her second song last night, Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Mentor Jimmy Iovine says he thought when she went big on the chorus instead of pulling back with some emotion, "she crashed and burned."

Again, they send her back to the couches without a verdict; twenty minutes in, and we've just been wasting our time.
