Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips split 130 million votes on "American Idol" last night Ryan Seacrest tells us as the final finale show starts.
Phillips and sweet-voiced John Fogerty team for a fun version of "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Nothing fancy, just a good song sung well. Phillips then takes the lead on "Bad Moon Rising," which again brings nobody to their feet but has everyone tapping their toes.
Show burns some time playing lowlights from this season's auditions round, over "Surfin' Bird." Seacrest tells us auditions coming this summer include L.A., San Antonio, New Orleans and Okalahoma City.
Joshua Ledet then returns to the stage, strutting out to "Take Me to the Pilot." He's joined by "the biggest inspiration of my life," Fantasia Barrino. She's in full growl mode, too.
It's entertaining, if not especially melodic; they're putting out an unreal amount of energy. Gets the audience and judges up and dancing, although it's somehow spoiled when the producers leave the performance abruptly to go to a commercial.
