Princess Diana was the subject of many TV movies, beginning with her wedding to Prince Charles, going on to the dissolution of that marriage and finally dealing with her death in a car accident on Aug. 31, 1997. Here are five:

THE ROYAL ROMANCE OF CHARLES AND DIANA (1982) Another movie about the royal courtship, with Catherine Oxenberg (the daughter of Yugoslavia’s Princess Elizabeth) from “Dynasty” playing Diana, Christopher Baines as Charles and Olivia de Havilland as Queen Elizabeth II.

CHARLES AND DIANA: UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER (1992) Oxenberg reprised her role in this TV movie that depicted the unraveling of the royal marriage. Broadway star Roger Rees was Charles.

DIANA: HER TRUE STORY (1993) Serena Scott Thomas (“The World Is Not Enough”) played the title character in this TV movie based on Andrew Morton’s controversial bestseller.

THE MURDER OF PRINCESS DIANA (2007) A journalist (Jennifer Morrison, “Once Upon a Time”) investigates the events that led up to the car accident that claimed the lives of Diana, her companion Dodi Fayed and their chauffeur in a Paris tunnel.
