Jinger Duggar, the fourth daughter and sixth child overall of the “19 Kids & Counting,” reality-TV clan, is engaged to former professional soccer player Jeremy Vuolo. The two had announced in June that they were officially courting.
“So excited to share this news that we are now engaged,” Duggar, 22, and Vuolo, 28, told People magazine in a statement Tuesday. “From both of us, thank you all for the countless well-wishes we’ve received during the courtship. We are so excited to take this next step in spending our lives together.”
The two, who had met on a missionary trip together, added that, “We are so grateful for how the Lord has brought us together. It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited about serving Christ together in the coming days.”
Vuolo, a Downington, Pennsylvania, native who played soccer at Hartwick College and at Syracuse University, told People in June that he met Jinger through being friends with her older sister Jessa Duggar Seewald and husband Ben Seewald.
He played briefly for Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls and the North American Soccer League’s San Antonio Scorpions after a few years in the minors and in Finland.
