Ben Higgins, whom Kaitlyn Bristowe eliminated on ABC's "The Bachelorette" Monday night, reportedly will be the next star of "The Bachelor."

E! News said Tuesday producers have chosen the 26-year-old software salesman, who became second runner-up behind Shawn Booth, 28, and Nick Viall, 34, to star in Season 20 of the dating competition next fall. Higgins, a native of Warsaw, Indiana, now living and working in Denver, has yet to finalize his contract, E! noted.

ABC traditionally does not reveal the next "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" star until after the current season's conclusion. "Sorry, but we do not comment on casting speculation and rumor," a network spokeswoman told Newsday.

Higgins is scheduled to appear on Monday's "The Men Tell All" reunion episode.

Separately, E! also reported that Britt Nilsson -- one of the two women chosen for this season of "The Bachelorette" who was voted off on the second episode -- and singer-songwriter Brady Toops had broken up. Toops, a contestant this season, quit the show in order to pursue a relationship with her. The two had dated fewer than six months.
