Boscobel (Italian for "beautiful woods") is the name of the Federal period house and museum overlooking the Hudson River. The 1808 house contains an extensive collection of period furniture and decorations. The 60 acres surrounding the mansion boast gardens, water features, picnic areas and a woodland trail with scenic views. Boscobel's West Meadow, with its seasonal pavilion, is a venue for such occasions as weddings and corporate events. Visitors can enjoy special exhibitions in the mansion's gallery, concerts, lectures and special programs for children, in addition to regular tours of the mansion.
