Go to Facebook for your own 'Jersey Shore' nickname

You don't need to spike your hair, bronze your skin or pump iron to be an honorary member of the MTV "Jersey Shore" cast. Just log onto Facebook.

That's what fans did last week when the application "What Is Your 'Jersey Shore' Nickname?" made the rounds. The name generator claims to have 1,736,967 monthly users, all of whom obviously want to sound as cool as the reality TV show housemates Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Franklin Square resident Jenni "JWoww" Farley.

Look up the application on Facebook (it's also on the Web - just Google it), plug in your real name and whether you're male or female and the program will spit out something Jersey-ish for you. If you like it, you can publish it on your Facebook profile page with a "fist pump" and a glamour shot of one of the cast members; if not, just generate another.

My name was a keeper the first time around - "V-Pow." Others not so much.

CBS anchorKatie Couric got "Snickers." Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was "d-Train." Sarah Palin? "Tanny." Oprah Winfrey: "Pookie."

President Barack Obama was dubbed "DJ Roid Rage," which would have been better for Mark McGwire. But the app redeemed itself when it generated the nickname for the baseball steroid taker - "Juice Box."
