Singer Melanie “Mel B” Brown has defended dousing fellow “America’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell with water on the live show Tuesday night after his comment about her wedding night during his appraisal of an act that had a technical mishap.
“He should know, if you say something inappropriate he’s gonna get, like, stuff thrown at him,” Brown told “Entertainment Tonight.” "In a friendly way — I made sure there was no ice in it.” She added, “I just [wish] I would have had, like, cranberry juice in there or something, and his whole body would be really sticky!”
Cowell, 57, had said of Brown, 42, following the contestant’s botched performance, “I kind of imagine this would be like Mel B’s wedding night. A lot of . . . anticipation, not much promise or delivery.”
Brown is in the midst of a contentious divorce from her husband, film producer Stephen Belafonte, and in April obtained a restraining order against him, claiming physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
