Let's start off this week with a little bit of news, shall we: Regis Philbin, one of the greats of talk TV will exit "Live with Regis and Kelly" on Nov. 18, he announced on the show a little while ago.
Makes sense because he had originally said his departure would be around this time; Disney prevailed on him to stay an extra couple of months, and that put him into November.
Why the 18th, with a full week of sweeps left? My hunch: That'll be the week the new host of "Live" is introduced.
I think it's reasonably clear at this point "Live" isn't about to undertake that long and arduous tryout phase that precipitated Kelly Ripa's tenure.
Those are not only complicated, but not exactly comfortable for the resident host -- which in this case would be Kelly.
The replacement? Looks like Tom Bergeron is "rumored" possibility, based on a Reeg joke a few weeks ago ("Love to have him as a replacement . . . he's not doing anything . . . etc.")
