Randy Jackson is vacating his "American Idol" judge's chair, TMZ has reported.

The only remaining original judge, Jackson will, TMZ reported, remain in a mentor role on the show.

Jackson was part of the original lineup of judges, alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, when the show premiered in 2002. That trifecta first cracked in 2009 when Adbul announced season 8 would be her last; Cowell departed the following year to dole out cantankerous comments on "The X Factor."

In July Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced their departures from the panel. That leaves confirmed newbie Mariah Carey sitting at the table alone, for now.
