Troubles at 'The View:" A report in Variety late Wednesday is saying that Rosie Perez will leave the program, only four months after joining the refurbished, rejuvenated, re-exciting talk show that is now under the aegis of ABC News -- and not Barbara Walters, who sold her stake in the program to Disney.
However, according to an ABC statement, "Rosie Perez is currently in rehearsal for her Broadway play ['Fish in the Dark'] for the month of January. Her status with the show has not changed."
The program has been the subject of various online reports -- none positive -- that indicate backstage backbiting and poor chemistry among hosts, and a lack of general enthusiasm among viewers, though viewership (per Variety) has "stabilized' since the putsch that led to the departure of Walter's longtime producer, Bill Geddie, and the hiring of former MSNBC producer, Bill Wolff, as current showrunner.
In any event, this does not look good, "View" fans. Per Variety, "Perez never got a hang of the show’s mixture of hard and soft news, and she had trouble reading from a TelePrompTer, insiders say."
