Felix Unger and Oscar Madison are about to pay tribute to the man who brought them together for television.
Monday’s episode of CBS’ reboot of “The Odd Couple” will salute Garry Marshall, the developer and executive producer of the original series from the ’70s who died in July. Marshall also served as executive consultant on the current version and guest-starred last season as Oscar’s dad, Walter.
The episode, which will deal with Oscar (Matthew Perry) as he carries out his father’s final wish to have his ashes spread behind the candy factory he used to own, also features several of the actors Marshall worked with on other shows he produced. Among the guests will be Ron Howard, Marion Ross, Anson Williams and Donny Most from “Happy Days”; sibling Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams of “Laverne and Shirley,” and Pam Dawber of “Mork & Mindy.”
“When we lost him, we knew we had to do something to honor his legacy — something that, like Garry’s work, was both heartfelt and zany,” executive producer Bob Daily said in a statement. “We are so grateful that the stars of these classic shows are able to join us in honoring him.”
