After days of speculation, ABC announced Thursday that Rosie O'Donnell is rejoining "The View."
"ABC confirms Rosie O'Donnell returns as co-host of 'The View' with moderator Whoopi Goldberg for Season 18," the network tweeted.
O'Donnell, 52, originally of Commack, co-hosted during the 2006-07 season. Her tempestuous stint included on- and off-air feuds with fellow co-hosts Star Jones and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Though ratings rose 15 percent during her time, O'Donnell left the show on May 25, 2007, three weeks before her contract ended.
Responding to casting rumors on Wednesday, a vacationing Hasselbeck phoned in to her current show, "Fox & Friends," to castigate O'Donnell as having "spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network" while co-host. In response to that, former co-host Joy Behar told CNN Wednesday that O'Donnell's eldest son is in military school, and she called Hasselbeck's comments "a nasty thing to say about somebody who basically is a good person . . . I think it's a hate-filled remark."
