If you may have missed Wednesday night's announcement: Rosie Perez and novelist and former adviser to President George W. Bush Nicolle Wallace will join "The View."
In other words: No more silly speculation in various magazines and websites about who is going to join "The View" as it attempts to remake itself and make itself relevant and interesting and noisy and newsy again.
So thank goodness for Rosie and Nicolle.
Stuff from the news release (and you do know Rosie -- maybe even best known from "Do The Right Thing" many years ago ... and she has been involved in politics, often involving Puerto Rican rights).
“I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I've been asked to join ‘The View’,” said Perez. “Knowing that I'll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable. The opportunity to connect with our nation's audience on a daily basis ... icing on the cake! Very happy.”
“I am honored to join the tradition of compelling conversations that has been the signature of ‘The View’ for the better part of two decades,” said Wallace. “I have watched ‘The View’' for many years and now to be seated alongside three women that I have admired is both humbling and incredibly exciting.”
Wallace is an interesting addition: She's been on the news/talk circuit for years, and published a well-received book about D.C. shenanigans a few years ago ("Eighteen Acres.") She is not a cookie-cutter TV conservative either -- a supporter of same-sex marriage, for example.
The new season starts Sept. 15.
